Vult Ludere, also known as The Puppet Master, is a character who appears in Emily Wants To Play Too as a possible antagonist. He was also the former owner of Kiki, Mr. Tatters and later on Chester.
Story[]
Ludere used to be called the puppet master, entertaining children during his own shows with his dolls. He owned four dolls; two of them were a porcelain doll named Kiki and a clown named Mr.Tatters. According to the local journal, people started to disappear after Ludere's shows, stating that 12 people already went missing. It is unknown what happened to Ludere, but Mr. Tatters destroyed a circus and found a puppet named Chester who belonged to a ventriloquist and Kiki became the doll of a mayor's daughter and started to spread the diseaseCholera, which eventually led to an outbreak.The three dolls somehow got into 905 Sister Street and were later found by a girl named Emily Withers. She loved the three of them instantly, calling them "her friends". After the arrival of the dolls, Emily's behavior started to change, causing her parents to feel deeply disturbed. Emily then died in the basement of an unknown cause and her parents were presumably killed by the dolls as they were planning to move.
Emily Wants To Play Too[]
Ludere's past is mentioned on a newspaper article found on a secret room's table. The protagonist learns that he used to be the puppet master and owned two unnamed dolls, Kiki and Mr. Tatters, to perform shows for the children. The article also mentioned the missing people. He also presumably appears at the ending of Emily Wants To Play Too, standing in front of Emily and saying that he won’t let her out anymore and now they are one.
Pacify[]
Ludere is also mentioned in Shawn Hitchcock's other horror game, Pacify, having a bigger role. In notes you can find only in the Dolls map, it states that Vult Ludere owned a funeral home with his wife, Gretchen Ludere. The couple later adopted Emilia after seeing her one day in town, not knowing where she came from or who she was, giving her dolls that would make the girl happy. Vult and Gretchen would study rituals, and later experimented one on Emilia and two of her dolls. One night after the ritual, Emilia began to act out violently and turned into her monster version, eventually killing Gretchen after she tried to soothe Emilia. After countless attempts to bring Emilia back completely normal, Vult eventually gave up and ran away, saying that Emilia is "lost forever" and leaving her behind to inhabit the mansion.

Ludere's human form is unknown but his monstrous form can be guessed at the end of the game.
Trivia[]
- Vult Ludere’s name is mentioned in another game made by Shawn Hitchcock Pacify, where he owned a funeral home meaning that the Emily Wants To Play series and Pacify share the same continuity.
- Ludere was the former owner of two unnamed dolls, Kiki, Mr. Tatters and later Chester. With his lore from Pacify stating that he has studied rituals, he could be the reason that the dolls are alive.
- He’s possibly the figure that was drawn by Emily from one of her drawings from the first game.
- It is possible that he is actually the main overarching antagonist of the entire Emily wants to play series though it is not yet confirmed.
